Bungalow 64 is located on Groenpark Simpelveld. You can use the services that the park offers, such as: restaurant De 3Sprong, mini golf, ordering bread, bed linen, laundry, etc.
You can do your shopping at Plus Schouteten. A five-minute drive from Bungalow 64 and a 15-minute walk via the station exit of Groenpark Simpelveld.
History
A 5-minute walk from Bungalow 64 you will find the historic Miljoenenlijn of the South Limburg Steam Train Company (ZLSM), a steam train in which you can ride.
The mining museum in Valkenburg is a 20-minute drive from Bungalow 64. Mining engineers have made a true-to-life setup using material from the coal mines of South Limburg.

A nice walk from Bungalow 64 to Overeys and which largely follows the Eyserbeek basin. The walk passes Castle Goedenraad and the Old mill in Simpelveld, both national monuments, and then ends again at the bungalow park. Click here to view the route in Google Maps.
This walk starts opposite Schaloen Castle. The walk takes you past several old quarries, Schaloen Castle and East Castle near Valkenburg.
This walk starts at the holiday park and leads through the Platte Bosch and Kolmonderbosch, along the abbey of Sint Benedictusberg and castle Nijswiller.
The walk passes the Geulhemermolen, a watermill in the Geul and remnants of a workshop from the Second World War.
Inn and mill; This walk starts directly from Bungalow 64 and passes Herberg Bernardushoeve where you can have a drink and along the windmill.
Epen is 15 minutes away by car from Bungalow 64. This walk leads past the sources of the Geul.
This walk takes you over the flanks of the plateau of Vijlen, through the Vijlenerbos. Halfway you will come to the river Geul. Just before the end you will find a water mill, De Volmolen.
The Brunssummerheide, a varied nature reserve with heather, forest and sand drift, is 15 minutes away by car from Bungalow 64. Various walking and cycling routes have been plotted.
The Hoge Venen starts 40 minutes by car from Bungalow 64. This walk starts at a dam and runs along a stream.
Gerendal is a picturesque dry valley an 18-minute drive from Bungalow 64. Rare wild orchids bloom in the limestone grasslands. Halfway there is an orchid garden where you can admire them up close.
One of the most beautiful walks, starting at bungalow 64, with beautiful views and narrow paths through meadows and woods.
Nice walk from Slenaken through the Lower and Upper forest, 15 minutes drive from Bungalow 64. The walk contains a number of steep parts, beautiful views and goes a short distance through Belgium.
Bemelen is 30 minutes away by car from Bungalow 64. The walk takes you past old limestone quarries and enters Bemelen along the Marl wall of the Bemelerberg.
A nice walk that starts at bungalow 64 through nature on the north side of Simpelveld, past the Stations of the Cross and the center of Simpelveld you will return to the park.
Bicycle tours
We have cycled the following bike tours ourselves and found it very worthwhile. There are several mountain bike routes in the area for mountain biking. With the racing bike, the 3 loops of the permanent Amstel Gold Race are a great challenge. Click on the title if you want to view the route of a cycling tour on Google Maps.
From Bungalow 64 you can cycle to the highest “mountain” in the Netherlands in Vaals, this is also the Three country point. Here you can make a stop on one of the cozy terraces.
The bike tour starts at Bungalow 64 and takes you over a number of slopes that belong to the cycling classics. With a gradient of up to 14% and a 17% decline, it is quite challenging.
Shopping
A 20-minute drive from Bungalow 64 takes you to Maastricht. Park for free on Lage Frontweg (15 min. Walk to the center).
A nice outing for a rainy day is the indoor shopping center Belle-Île in Liège, a 45-minute drive from Bungalow 64. You can park for free and dry under the shopping center.
The factory outlet (Werksverkauf) of Lindt is a 15-minute drive from Bungalow 64. Lots of chocolate for little money. Free parking is available.
Even more activities
Karting in the open air of the Limburg hills is a unique experience at a 10-minute drive from Bungalow 64. You do not need to have kart experience to participate. A 15-minute drive from Bungalow 64 you will find Aquana, with water slides, wave pool and outdoor pool. The Master Blaster is our favorite. There is a large pirate ship for small children.
